Exercise 1: Audio Dubbing

This week, Mr. Martin divides us into groups of 5. We were instructed to search for audios and sound effects for a clip from the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once. After searching for the SFXs, we put them all together on one Google Sheet.

Click here to access the Google Sheet link.

Then, I adjust and put all of the sounds together on Premiere Pro. I started by putting the hard sound effects first.

Then, I added ambience too to elevate the tension and suspense on the clip.

On top of everything, I added the voiceovers I recorded using my phone.

After I put all of the necessary sounds and ambience, I immediately went to audio mastering. I also shifted the pitch for Evelyn's and Deidre's voice to make them sound more girlish.

Revision

I removed the violin ambience in the end. Since the focus of this exercise is to add sound effects, I figured that removing the creepy violin sound would be better. Here is the final result.

REFLECTIONS

Working with sound effects and dubbing sounds like a fun exercise. It is, but there are aspects we need to be careful about like mixing and the placement of the sounds. If not, the sounds can feel like its out of place and unnatural. This exercise helped me learn about audio effects and a little bit of mastering which improved my proficiency in video editing.
