Realism takes a non-exotic and non-extraordinary subject matter and theme.
Surrealism is a twist of realism. It explores subconscious mind, with subjects mainly looks like something dream-like and possibly not real.

PROJECTS

Poster Design

Moving on to week 9, I started working on the layout of the poster on Photoshop. The first step is to add a background. I took this stone-textured wallpaper photo from my friend's apartment. Then, I put a threshold layer on top of it and another color layer with linear burn on it.

Then, I add the text I have made in Adobe Illustrator and an image of a man with a threshold filter. Using the gaussian blur effect, I created shadows for the text and the man.

After that, I added some stock images of mirror frames and again, shadows by using the gaussian blur filter.

Finally, I inserted the images with my face on them onto each mirror frames. I put the one in the middle with different color for it to be the main focus of the poster. Additionally, I put a stock image of a mask, warp the perspective to match the angle of my face, and put a threshold layer on everything.

Here is the final result.

"So if you need a hero, just look in the mirror." This is a quote from one of Kali Uchis’ song and I decided to turn it into a poster. I think the quote is really inspirational since it basically tells the audience to depend on themselves and not to give up  if they are facing any problems. For the design, I keep it simple by putting a few ”mirrors” with my face on them, and an image of me looking to a reflection of another version of myself with a superhero mask on.

REFLECTIONS

The first few hours of realizing the poster felt so stressful to me because back when I still used to make posters for fun, I never really sketched the design prior to making the poster. In fact, I felt so uneasy since it forced me to stick with the design I had previously came up with. However, after some time of thinking, I decided to stick with the sketch. The process actually went pretty smoothly probably because I asked for plenty feedbacks from both Mr. Fauzi and Mr. Hafiz every week. All in all, I really enjoyed designing this poster since it was pretty fun messing with the adjustment layers and filters to create this poster.
