    TASK

    Task 1: Pre-production

On task 1, we were required to come up with a vehicle concept. I am really interested with the idea of a post-apocalyptic, dystopian setting with grind fiction elements. So, I came up with a few sketches.

Then, Mr. Kannan also instructed us to do more exploration by doing 10 silhouettes for 3 different archetypes, land, air, and water.

    Fig. 3.4,  Water vehicle silhouette

Honestly, after all of that sketching, I don't think I get a single idea/inspiration i can use for my vehicle, so I did more exploration.

    Fig. 3.5, 5 more sketches

I decided to go with vehicle number 4 (the trailer truck) as my vehicle, a vehicle used as a basecamp/shelter for a group of punks. However, I need more polishing to do.

After consultation with Mr. Kannan, I decided to expand on this idea more.

    Fig. 3.7. Second attempt

Since I am really fond of stylized, almost cartoony designs, I do not really pay attention on the physics and mechanics of vehicles, since all I care is the aesthetics and design. However, Mr. Kannan asked me to think about the vehicles and whether it make sense or not (in terms of the mechanics and physics if applied in real life, basically).

So, I tried to make a more realistic approach on this concept, by making the wheels bigger so it can support the weight, of course.

The proportions are off, more revision to do.

Still feeling unsatisfied, I do more exploration through the submission of task 1, (gotta lock in for this).

Then I gotta do the silhouettes from 10 of those.

From those 10 silhouettes, I need to make 5 rough values.

    Here is the design breakdown.

After one more feedback from Mr. Kannan, I added more details on the truck.

    REFLECTIONS

The first task of VPD is honestly very tiring. I feel like I haven't really shown my full potential.. I was really stressed out on working on the design breakdown as I have never drawn vehicle seriously. But, I somehow managed to finish the task. I drew the truck with my usual cartoon-ish artstyle. One thing I noticed from Mr. Kannan is that his feedbacks and suggestions really pushes me forward.
